Beginning Therapy

Life often brings difficult chapters where distressing emotions take over, leaving us feeling disconnected from others—and from ourselves. In these moments, therapy can support you to understand the root of your struggles and discover how to create meaningful change.

Gaining insight into your experiences can help you to develop genuine self-kindness and begin building a clear path towards a more fulfilling life.

About

Therapy With Me

My approach to therapy is warm, empathic, and genuine. It is deeply important to me to create a safe space where you feel completely heard, respected, and understood.

Many people seek my support for help with specific challenges, such as navigating anxiety or managing workplace stress. Others meet with me simply to find room to breathe—a dedicated space to reflect, develop a deeper understanding of themselves, and build lasting self-compassion.

Usually I meet my clients at the same time weekly, however we will create a plan that works best for you.

Currently I am offering online sessions only, however from October 2026 I will be returning to offering some face to face sessions at my clinic in East London.

My Approach

Because everyone I meet is unique, I use an integrative approach. This means I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic models to tailor our work specifically to you and your situation.

The frameworks I most frequently draw from include:

  • Mentalisation-Based Therapy

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

  • Schema Therapy

  • Cognitive Analytic Therapy

At the core of my practice, I always maintain a trauma-informed and attachment-focused stance.

This means I look at how your past relationships and life experiences shape how you view yourself and the world today, ensuring our work always feels safe, respectful, and at a pace that is managable and helpful to you.

My Experience

I have almost fifteen years experience, working in a wide variety of NHS mental health settings including adult mental health, child and adolescent services, inpatient facilities, and the psychological impact of physical health concerns.

I currently work part time as a senior clinical psychologist in an NHS service for people working through adverse experiences in childhood, such as sexual abuse, neglect and other forms of trauma, and who may have been given a label of "borderline personality disorder" (BPD/EUPD).

In my private practice I support my clients through a wide range of difficulties including: low mood, anxiety, shame, trauma, stress, difficulties associated with pregnancy and becoming a parent, relationship difficulties and low self-esteem.

I also work closely with individuals who experience deep, overwhelming emotions. This includes people who may have been given a label of "borderline personality disorder" (BPD/EUPD), as well as those navigating intense challenges like urges to self-harm, or significant strain in their relationships. Alongside this, I also support families and carers, recognising that you may also need a dedicated space to process, understand, and move toward healing and repair.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and completed my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at University College London (UCL). I am also a British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) accredited Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT) practitioner (which was primarily developed to treat "BPD") from the Anna Freud Centre.
